Possible?
1.
Did you do that via a DVD start up of Knoppix and use
'install to USB' option?
If so did you install exactly as DVD (in Live Linux mode, no
persistence)[I.e. USB boots as if it were DVD Knoppix system with no
retention over re-boots]
Or did you create a bootable USB stick of Knoppix via some other
system, in which case it may in GRUB menu showing a
choice of systems as text.
2 If you are arriving at a workable Knoppix, I assume so since you
comment on compiz; then it is workable as long as you remember
differences between USA keyboard and UK keyboard as it will assume you
have a USA keyboard.
Main one is @ is input by "shift plus 2" and UK "shift plus @" gives a "
