David Cameron’s plan to ban end-to-end encryption

In response to the threat of terrorism David Cameron is proposing to ban end to end encryption,  ref http://www.net-security.org/secworld.php?id=17822 for reactions to this.  This also stirred up quite a debate on the DCGLUG mailing list.
