I have also used XnView in the past. Very limited image processing but did allow resize on export. Windows only but runs fine under Wine. I took a look at the XnSoft website and they have two new(ish) products: XnViewMP (multiplatform) and XnConvert. There are Windows, OS-X and Linux installers. I have no interest in anything to do with Windows any more. I went along with DOS and then Windows until 1999 and then moved over to early versions of Linux and haven't touched Windows since. Being retired I have no need to and no wish to.Curiosity? Seriously, what do you have to lose? You might really like it. You might as well say I've never had pasta aribiatta before, why should I bother trying it? I know you're perfectly happy with Linux and more power to you for it, but there's no harm in trying different things. Even if it's in the same "know your enemy" sense I do it in. Register for the completely free Windows Insider program, download an ISO and spin up a VM. For added fun get a free copy of Visual Studio and a Windows IoT Rpi2 beta and control your RPi camera with PS scripts. Get a free copy of Office 2016 whilst you're at it, it's pretty cool.Props to the guy who recommended Irfanview on Wine - got there just before I did. Any image editing or processing I do whatsoever is done via Irfanview eithernatively on Windows or on Linux via Wine. Photoshop/Gimp make me lose the will to live - I'm a sysadmin, not a graphic designer.I have used GIMP a lot, never looked at Photoshop. I can do the things I want on on GIMP and don't mind finding out how to do anything new to me if the need arises.Exactly! See above. No I suppose not, and as I said my daughter uses it at work so she must know it well. Her husband also has Windows on his laptop come to think of it. I had forgotten that.Using Windows at work is definitely not an indicator of ability :[ I'm sure your daughter is a noble exception but then she only proves the rule :]Thanks for all the help,No problem chief, always a pleasure. In case you fancy trying it out, here are the instructions for running the excellent Irfanview freeware tool on Linux. This is on a Ubuntu 14.04 LTS system so pretty much the same as yours I believe, minus the XFCE. This will work with simple c/p. 1: get the iview438_setup.exe from irfanview.com 2: unrar it 3: install proper wine setup sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pipelight/stable sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install --install-recommends wine-staging sudo apt-get install wine-staging-amd64 4: install prereq: winetricks mfc42 5: install the program: wine iview438_setup.exe 6: click click click 7: profit It'll even drop a program shortcut on your desktop so you can just drag and drop files to it, wine will take care of the rest. To get back to the original topic, once all that is done you just hit CTRL+R or go to Image > Resize in the menu. All scriptable and capable of automation if required. Added bonus: you now have a functional wine prefix for anything else you can think to use it for. Trust me, there are a LOT of things you might want a functional wine prefix for. Can't be bad to have one eh? Cheers
