I know you're perfectly happy with Linux and more power to you for it, but there's no harm in trying different things. Even if it's in the same "know your enemy" sense I do it in. Register for the completely free Windows Insider program, download an ISO and spin up a VM. For added fun get a free copy of Visual Studio and a Windows IoT Rpi2 beta and control your RPi camera with PS scripts. In case you fancy trying it out, here are the instructions for running the excellent Irfanview freeware tool on Linux. This is on a Ubuntu 14.04 LTS system so pretty much the same as yours I believe, minus the XFCE. This will work with simple c/p. 1: get the iview438_setup.exe from irfanview.com 2: unrar it 3: install proper wine setup sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pipelight/stable sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install --install-recommends wine-staging sudo apt-get install wine-staging-amd64 4: install prereq: winetricks mfc42 5: install the program: wine iview438_setup.exe 6: click click click 7: profit It'll even drop a program shortcut on your desktop so you can just drag and drop files to it, wine will take care of the rest. To get back to the original topic, once all that is done you just hit CTRL+R or go to Image > Resize in the menu. All scriptable and capable of automation if required. Added bonus: you now have a functional wine prefix for anything else you can think to use it for. Trust me, there are a LOT of things you might want a functional wine prefix for.
