Thank you all for the replies. I have downloaded Osman and will give it
a go although I too like the idea of a stand-alone that does one thing
well. When abroad I do the navigating and my wife does the driving most
of the time. This means taking the caravan down a
narrow/twisting/bollard encrusted road is always my fault so I was
hoping for a bit of help for large vehicles. I always use a combination
of paper maps and satnav. The satnav's biggest use is in towns and for
finding distances.
I have the choice of a 5 inch phone or a 10 inch tablet for using Osman,
so maybe not ideal.
The 7" satnavs on ebay all seem to run Windows CE so maybe not the right
place to find reviewers!
