Ha.

I've done a number of XP -> Linux migrations recently and the Tom-Tom software is always a pain. The oldest devices have some 3rd party support for map updates but it seems a bit flaky.

In most cases, I've explained the problem of their software not being compatible and have managed to get away with not phaffing with Virtualbox etc. to maintain the coupling.

No Linux desktop support from a company that's ransacked Open Source to create their own product doesn't strike me as a particularly moral stance. For that reason Tom-Tom has been added to my list of "Do not use" technology.

I'm tracking this thread to see what Linux up-datable satnavs people suggest. Personally, I use my Galaxy Note and Google's "Navigation" product quite successfully though I find a map->brain->common sense interface works best of all.
