Re: What is/was your work desktop? was Re: [LUG] SIMS
Hi
Nothing like as interesting as you guys. Computers have mostly been
used at home and not for work.
Although in 1984/5? or some when around then I installed something
called a Novelle Network. No one had a clue what it was and since I was
game to give it a go, they gave me a week to learn, a huge increase in
salary and a month to build. Which I completed and then ran for a
couple of years until I had a falling out with management policy to
call members of staff twats! Forgive the use of the word. After that I
left and became a youth worker. Computers have always been a hobby
since then.
In 2001 I was using w98 hated it and after encouragement from this
list, stopped dual booting and used Mandrake exclusively and apart from
needing to use w98 on a laptop cause I couldn't get the modem working
have used Linux exclusively for everything.
Until the start of this year when I was bought a 17" Powerbook.
Recently I've been building some web sites and need to back them up
overnight and so I am building another Linux box.
Next buy will almost certainly be a G5.
