New Content Jan 6 2015

Posted on 2015-01-06 by Paul Sutton

I have added a lot of new content under the resources section,  mainly more tutorials for mint but also some under the command line section.

I have also added a page on Diaspora,  which is essentially the information from the thunderclap which ended on the 2nd Jan but I have just included the information directly relating to Diaspora.

File – Association

Posted on 2014-12-22 by Paul Sutton

Applicable to : Xubuntu 14.04 and others

How to change the program that opens a file type. e.g a text file.

Go to settings manager which should be on the menu or an icon on the panel

settings-manager

Select MIME Type Editor

You then see the following

Mime-type-editor

If you click the program name in the far right column, then you should get a list of options as to which program is used to edit that file type.

Changes seem to be immediate so closing the window should mean the changes take effect.
