Why Windows 8 is bad for freedom

Another reason to consider free software.  You can’t hide code to spy on people in code freely available for people to scrutinize.

What else happened

Raymond had a DOS batfile listing of a program to parse / search his telephone listing files, and wanted help to find a way to do the same thing in bash.

I sort of guessed this could be done with

DOS VS LINUX

find vs Grep

echo vs cat

Thought the following may be helpful

Still trust microsoft – think again

Posted on 2013-07-12 by Paul Sutton

PLEASE READ THIS if you still insist on using any software from Microsoft.

Maybe it’s time to cut the crap and start to realise that software freedom advocates are talking sense not a load of nonsense and have been taking sense for years.  Time for change has come, that time is NOW.
