A Windows user saved!

Posted on 2013-10-27 by simon

Today I was asked about speeding up a Windows computer as it was being used as a backup PC, due to the user’s Mac undergoing repair.

I asked what operating system the PC was using so I could find appropriate tools to help speed it up. I was told that it was running Windows 7 and that it rarely gets used. I decided to suggest Zorin OS due to the look and feel of it.

The user does have a printer which is not supported with Linux but I suggested an alternative method of printing from it by using the Mac.

The user ended up going with Linux Mint and has chosen to erase Windows from the PC and replace it with Mint!

Overall I believe this was the best option as from being told it was rarely used I think Mint can breathe a new lease of life into this PC and be ideal for those basic tasks,
