A problem. My wifi connection does use wpa2 on the router, and there is a strong password. The problem is, although I can remember that password, I have long forgotten the admin password (which I had changed from the default), so I cannot access the router without doing a reset, which I am reluctant to do.

So I cannot follow your excellent advice. Meanwhile, I have never used SSH before, after 18 years of Linux, so I will just leave it for the moment. Perhaps sometime in the future .... I might even get a new router eventually.
