Re: [LUG] Chrome browser - website flashing images

Paul,
You certainly can. Though if you can obscure my identity and correct the late night grammar errors that would be appreciated.

in fact, let me rewrite it here now:

With me, I am Asperger Syndrome which means mildly Autistic. The flashing adbanners do what they are supposed to with me - They get my attention. The problem is, they also keep it so I can't focus on the text of the webpage.

Anything flashing or moving and if I don't have adblock then I can't read your webpage. I have often wanted to email the site owners who complain about people using adblock plus, and block adblock plus users and ask: Is rendering me
functionally illiterate worth the few pennies you get from the odd person who is actually clicking on those banners?

I will say one thing. With Autistic spectrum disorders everyone is different. I and my brother are good examples. We are both Aspergers.  He needs order and routine, I can cope quite well without. He has the 'calculator quirk' (he can do mental arithmatic faster then you can key it into a calculator, even with really huge numbers) and is quite obviously Aspie, I am very good at hiding it, but have a logical thought process that lends itself very well to IT troubleshooting. So i don't know how useful asking other Autistic children will be.

I believe the Flash blocking addon for Firefox is called Flashblock.

Maybe an article would be useful, to let people know that they don't have to put up with adverts.

Rob

Yes, or the other good one is Noscript, which literally blocks all scripts you do not allow/whitelist. But i manage quite happily with just Adblock Plus, as if something gets through the list i'm subscribed to, right click, and Poof! it is no more.
