Interesting - an old friend who worked in fibre (and was the only one
who could set up fibres for telescopes in the UK) told me that when
Kodak took over Polaroid they dumped the cheap thin film PV they had
developed. This has now been rediscovered and the factory is going
again. Coupled with the recent solid sodium batteries - this could be
very worthwhile in a few years.

I have a friend over the hill who just got planning permission for a big
wind turbine (£20k) in a good spot for wind - in the saddle between
Godolphin Hill and Tregonning Hill. It will be interesting to see the
economics once it gets going. A guy who used a nearby cottage as a
holiday home got up a petition and a group of objectors! There was a
good turnout of supporters at the planning meeting.
