Quoting Simon Waters:
What is/was your work desktop?
My first job in 1998, I had an Olivetti 386 PC with MS-DOS 5 - I then
'upgraded' to to a Pentium 166 with Windows 3.11 and DOS 6.22. I then
progressed through various versions of Windows, right up to 2000 in
2001 when I left the company and worked for a short while at BT. BT had
NT4 desktops. Upon joining the NHSIA, I was the first person to get an
XP desktop.
Now, I use an XP desktop at the NHSIA and an Apple eMac at the media
foundation. All servers I maintain run Debian testing, only when the
UserLinux stuff progresses will I run a totally free software desktop
machine, as most of my work is done in a browser, but I need tools that
don't exist as free software yet.
