Although not a lot of folks are tracking it routinely other than snort signatures 
for same. Probably an area where your own protocol might easily escape attention, 
just don't use your own encryption with it.

For malicious purposes DNS must still be a good choice. Especially now every 
protocol and its dog is storing key data in the DNS, it is getting harder to eyeball 
the data and say "no" on content alone. A big chunk of encoded data would have been 
pretty unusual in the past, but now far less so.
