Re: [LUG] 3G USB Modem

I have an o2 dongle. It shows up as a usb cdrom and card reader until you call modeswitch or install it.
Then it shows up as a 3g dongle, and works in networkmanager under mobile internet, supplied with the ubuntu inbuilt setting for the tariff. Easy (ish). They should really include modeswitch on the ubuntu cd as it was all I needed. They should include all internet modules and software required.

I followed the instructions on this website to get 3G running on my netbook.
Basically the dongle will only identify itself as a storage device
until you forcibly remind it that it is also a 3G modem.
Then things start to work, and you only need to add connection details.
