The biggest issues I've had over the past few years is the muppets and
numpties who will not trim posts, nor post in plain text, and not attach
images, documents, etc...

The biggest issue that lug.org.uk has had is people who report
mailing list posts that they asked for as spam, and people who use
services like Spamcop as an all-or-nothing indicator of whether to
accept the email. The combination of the two is unfortunate as
Spamcop will list on a single unverified report.

That too. And AOL - where I'm told the 'spam' button is right next to the 'delete' button. I get swathes of AOL Spam reports sent to me from some postings....

Even the worst abuses of top posting, replying to entire digests with
a single word, and so on, are not really noticeable traffic-wise.
Posing of large images and other binary attachments occasionally is,
if you look for it, but most lists seem to quite effectively
self-moderate in these outrageous cases.

That's a fact of todays modern Internet septemberoid, and Outlooks default settings. It's like wading through cold treacle to try to re-edudate them..

Once a single 1MB image is attached, those 2000 posts become 2GB of data
to ship. (And bounce back )-:

The default size limit in Mailman is 40KiB. There are also fairly
good attachment type filters in Mailman which can be turned on if
desired.

I run majordomos which has similar settable limits, but it makes no differece at all when they're paying customers and ask to be able to send images, attachments, etc...

Sometimes I think these people are better off with webby forums ;-)
