Re: [LUG] Why are there so few women in our LUG - does this indicate there are few female Linux users ?

This is going to be a sweeping statement.

But I don't think females are interested. period.
They want an computer, they want it to work, they want it like the
computer at work.
They don't care what it's running.

More sweeping generalisations... It's the same with cars for females.

I am trying to think of a similar situation for males.
Maybe sewing machines? Males want to stick something together, they
don't care about how it does it (My view) I just want to get the thing
sewn, but females can spout on about the merits off overlockers and ...
(I have run out of knowledge on sewing :-))

I think that is just the way it is.
IT is like this in general, the gov. want to get get more females into
IT, why? If they don't want to why should they? (That's a bit off topic
though) and actually why would they, you only get 15 years and that's
it, to old to work after late 30's, everyone knows people older than
late 30's their brains turn to mush... look at managers :-)

I don't know why females don't like technology though, or rather don't
care about it would be a better observation.

All the above is full of generalisations, please feel free to ignore
the bits that don't apply to you, the reader.

I think if a new PC was brought and it had Linux on it and it would do
all the things that the windows PC did, on the whole they wouldn't
care.

What is it? Males are hunter gathers and females are ...
Maybe the males need to hunt and gather Linux PC's rather than windows.

Bottom line is 'I don't know'!

(have a look at what males horde and compare to what females horde,
does that give a clue?)
