Hi folks,

I was just wondering if anynoe on here has had problems with Eclipse
Internet's billing?

I was a customer with Eclipse back in December 2001 up until October
2002. No problems with the connection as such, but it turns out they
had major billing problems. I thought the payments were coming off my
ex-wife's credit card, and it according to Eclipse, they weren't.

They have now sent me a bill for £550 from a debt collection agency.

If they have referred you to a debt collection agency then it is likely
that your credit record has been affected: you should check with
- www.experian.co.uk/consumer/index.html
- www.equifax.co.uk. Click on personal products and then in the bottom
right hand corner get the Statutory Credit Report

Check with both agencies, but just get the Statutory Report: if
interested have a look at the identity theft guidelines

As you can imagine, I'm not happy about this. I used to have faith in Eclipse, but after this incident, I have no faith whatsoever. The debt collection agency and Eclipse finance department are both no help whatsoever. I consider it to be their screw up, and now I'm being charged £550 for it (including being told that I had a connection with them for 8 months after I left the house I was living in!).

If they are charging you, then they must have proof that the charges
were incurred: try the Fair Trading people. But start getting all issues
in writing: use registered letters. If you have a discussion on a
telephone then summarise the telephone call and send it to them in a
registered letter

Will do. I guess I could write to them asking for a rundown of the charges. The debt collection company weren't much help, they couldn't even give me Eclipse's number!

Another annoying thing about it, I was on hold about 7 minutes before I got to speak to someone at Eclipse.
