If they have referred you to a debt collection agency then it is likely
that your credit record has been affected: you should check with
- www.experian.co.uk/consumer/index.html
- www.equifax.co.uk. Click on personal products and then in the bottom
right hand corner get the Statutory Credit Report
Check with both agencies, but just get the Statutory Report: if
interested have a look at the identity theft guidelines

If they are charging you, then they must have proof that the charges
were incurred: try the Fair Trading people. But start getting all issues
in writing: use registered letters. If you have a discussion on a
telephone then summarise the telephone call and send it to them in a
registered letter
