As Paul has said, I would expect this to be eth0 but your module
specifics may be different (I've seen wlan0 before). In both of my
machines that now have wireless, that interface is eth1 as they both
have a wired interface that gets used. (But they both use ipw2200).

Hi Alex,

You're both right in that normally it would be eth0, but in this case the documentation is very specific. Also it has created the module ath_pci which I moved (as per your suggestion Alex) into the folder specified by uname.

BTW on the subject of wired interfaces, any ideas why MDK10 tries to access my Firewire card as eth1? It wastes a lot of time every time I boot the machine because it hangs looking for a machine on the other end which is never going to be there. Should I just delete it from the network connections list, or is that likely to break something vital?

Kind regards,

Julian
