The suggestion to move the hard drive to another Laptop is an alternative solution in case you are not comfortable with replacing the BIOS chip.

Awesome. Thank you.

Another thing to try first is resetting the BIOS. Remove the BIOS backup battery, hold down power button for 30 seconds, replace the battery and try again.

Cool. I will give this a go first.

Slightly off topic: I have had the pleasure of seeing Saturn through the telescope that I believe was donated by your father to The North Devon Astronomy Club :-)

hahaha Bless him. Made and ultimately donated by my much loved Grandfather. Who was a top dude! Sadly he died in 2012, aged 93. I'm chuffed you saw Saturn, truly beautiful planet! I've seen it myself, through the same scope. When I was 13 (!) I helped out building the observatory (wooden hut thing haha). The best day was when we accidentally left the cover off the scope, the Sun moved and the 21" diameter scope suddenly started burning a hole in the observatory wall. hahaha! Was like something from the James Bond film, Gold Finger. haha.

Anyhow, apologies to all others for off topic, but cool, stuff. ;-) hehe.

cheers roly :-)
