I think you may not have fully read the article..

I'd rather my nuclear facility wasn't connected to the Internet, and had physical access controls regardless of the OS it was running.

Which is what part of Linus's rant is about.

Security isn't just about remote access and software stability, its a whole system from connectivity to physical access. I have worked on systems where I've been escorted to them by guys with loaded guns. Also worked on computer that I wasn't allowed to physically touch - had to get a native to do the actual typing.

Somewhat closer to home I have an oven with a Raspberry Pi on it - which is connected to my home LAN (well, part of it) In theory, I can turn my oven on remotely - in practice, I first need to be in-front of it to turn the big control knob to it's "raise the lightening rods, Igor" setting...
