Re: [LUG] Laptop battery usage

its ok to leave your laptop on charge even if theres a full battery,
but leaving it on charge for long periods of time can damage the
battery. when on charge for long periods the battery slowly forgets
whats its full charge state is, hence why most batties wont charge to
100% and may only get upto 95% and then say not charging

but if you have damaged the battery due to constant charge then
depending on the battery type (li-ion i think) you can fix/improve the
battery by simply....

1. let the laptop fully charge while switched off
2. turn laptop on and leave it to discharge completely on battery (you
might have to tell your laptop not to shut down when the battery gets
low)
3. then charge to full again with the laptop off
4. repeat if necessary

its a good idea to do that once a week

my msi cr700 is 5 years old and i still get 2 hours of usage out of it
(1h 15m if gaming) just by following what i said.

so as long as you let the battery fully discharge the laptop should be fine

hope this helps, if any of the details is wrong please let me know and
feel free to correct where needed :D
