Oh, it was obvious to me immediately as well. Too obvious, which is
what made me go back and re-examine my initial reaction. Maybe I then
over-thought it, but at this point I still don't think so.

I think "indexer" and "data processor" is a difference without a
well-grounded distinction, so I dismiss that aspect from
consideration. Am I missing something?

It does seem to me ultimately to be at least in significant part an
issue of software freedom.
