Postfix sent these to myself fine, hopefully Icedove doesn't persist

Okay so the list's server encodes 8bit as base64.

Heh... in that email you sent, I see:

  X-MIME-Autoconverted: from base64 to 8bit by unicorn.drogon.net id r1S8fl9J014321

The mailman list says this is a "feature" of adding headers and footers
when the default encoding is not utf-8 in the Python, or some such
complexity. Apparently MIME headers and footers don't mess with the
content as much.

So basically looks like everything is 8bit clean, and almost nothing
relies on it except Postfix.

So as always seems to happen with character sets in modern computer, not
everything is UTF-8 everywhere, and resources are burnt left right and
centre converting, checking and reconverting on route.

The phrase "don't start from here" springs to mind :(

It's an interesting set of mash-up's. Still - seems to work...

Mostly.
