Ok, Mint or Cinnamon flavour, 32 or 64 bit, and I still need to know
your choice of DVD vs USB install. I seem to have lost my Mint DVD iso
so I'm grabbing another one to throw at a virtual machine so I can
follow exactly what you're doing. We'll have to specify nomodeset at
boot to avoid kernel mode setting not working properly on your hardware,
maybe noacpi as well to be safe.

Download's done, so I'll test here at my end. Whilst we could chainload
in from an ISO that's going to be sub-optimal, we just need to force the
Mint installer to behave itself and you'll be fine.

Cheers
