Try Archlinux folks. I did try Ubuntu 11.10. I think Unity is a step in the right direction. Removing some of Gnome's bloat and craziness, though it's too little too late for me. I kinda do App stores at work and though Ubuntu is credited for doing App stores first on the desktop, their implementation seems very poor at first glances. Awful icons & 5 star ratings everywhere aren't credible. No way to charge.
