As I understand it, 11.10 does away with the option to login with the old Gnome 2 style interface - it's fully migrated to the Gnome 3 code so it's Unity or Gnome 3 Shell now. That's currently a deal breaker on my desktop just from a usability point of view.Surprised no-one here's mentioned their favourte fluffy version of a Linux distribution yet ... http://releases.ubuntu.com/11.10/I'm almost tempted to try it on wifeys old PC before I put it up for sale...Gordon
I have Gnome 3 shell on my 11.04 laptop and seem to be getting to grips with it. I'll probably upgrade to 11.10 on the Laptop and give Unity another go, falling back the Gnome Shell if necessary.
Once I'm happy I can navigate with speed and configure things how I want, I'll upgrade the desktop too.
I don't think Unity is still quite there yet with 11.10, maybe 12.10? Martin -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/listfaq
