Best if you just pick a date and say "that's it" and be done with it.

I can't make the weekend of the 8/9th - midweek is generally OK though.

I'm not anticipating getting new gadgets for xmas though... (Well, not computer related)

To Gordon & all other members :

On Gordon's advice, I am confirming a specific date for a meeting at my house to discuss best practice when installing Linux.

"Linux Installation - Achieving A Great Desktop System" - Wednesday 12th January 2011 - 14:00 to 16:30

Purpose - There is much information available on installing Linux OS's but, installing the OS is only the 1st step (as many of you will be very aware) in achieving a desktop system that meets your day to day as well as less frequent computing requirements. It could be argued that with Linux there is almost too much choice of utilities & software to install and I thought it could be useful to share our experiences of which we have found the most useful & why (also, useful additional repositories to add etc.)

* I realise that we will be possibly using different distros and doing things in different ways but, learning the different approaches that people take could be very useful.

Location - 19 Fordlands Road, Moretonhampstead, TQ13 8LR

During the day, there is likely to be some street parking available in the immediate vicinity but, in addition, there are 2 public car parks in the town as well - approx. 10 minutes walk away.

In organising this, I just request that you confirm with me if you are definitely planning to come (and if anything last minute prevents this)

I will provide refreshments.

Please let me know if I have omitted anything.

regards

Viv
