AFIK X11 protocol (the one you're forwarding with ssh -X) has a lot of
overhead and it's not a good option for WAN connections.

The performance is like: (less) X11 -> VNC/RDP -> NX/CICA/others (more)

I don't know what kind of protocol uses GoToMyPC, but I would bet it's
better than the plain and basic X11 because seems designed to work over
WAN.
