Who knows, I just know how many bog standard desktops I see, to think that the normal default desktop a computer OS uses should look clean, professional and tasteful, because a whole heap of people will never ever adjust it. You may have your thoughts on how lazy they are, I think it is they just in most cases don't know better. This morning has been spent attempting to repair one of the mothers from schools PC, try and guess what the desktop looked like after 6yrs of use since its purchase in 2004. Utterly default except for the 60 or so icons taking up half the desktop. If I end up popping back to sort out the adsl issues (when the broken hub is replaced) as a matter of interest I may ask if they know how to change the wallpaper/theme.. I seem to remember most Â2500 training courses I used to go on for windows seemed to involve a day of 'how to personalise your desktop' no matter what the course was! What (if anything) do they teach in IT in school - how to write a cheque or how to hand over your credit card details?
Sorry - it want meant to be a personal attack,On the internet there are many (presumably MS shills) who are complaining about things that are really easy to fix - one is complaining its too easy to do something on Ubuntu!! To change the appearance of the desktop on Ubuntu is four or five clicks - my 7 year old daughter has done it without instruction! And you dont have to change it if you dont want to - its not compulsory - fashion is for people who cant afford personalities. But I find it amusing that people spend more time complaining and commenting about something than it would take to fix it, or for the most incompetent idiot to find out how to change it and fix it.
