Re: [LUG] And then it went *phut* ...

It's a shame the temperature sensors on my CPU are broken, it'd be interesting to see just how low it'll go with a peltier cooler. I'm only assuming the sensors are broken as they only go down to 39C which is a tad odd bearing in mind it's watercooled. Ramble over, carry on with your conversation.

And right now, the disk drives in this server are at:

 # hddtemp /dev/sd{a,b}
 /dev/sda: WDC WD10EACS-00ZJB0: 30 C
 /dev/sdb: WDC WD10EACS-00ZJB0: 35 C

and the motherboard (which only has one temp sensor) is:

 # sensors
 acpitz-virtual-0
 Adapter: Virtual device
 temp1:       +32.0 C  (crit = +100.0 C)

Which I think you'll agree is fine. (And the door has been closed for a few days)

That's cooler than what my wife's PC was when the PSU fan failed yesterday :-)

Being Christmas day with xmas videos to convert I made a stop gap, an 8cm fan cable tied to the PSU and run off one of the molex connectors.  It's kept it nice and cool since (at least long enough until I can get a replacement PSU in a day or so).
