There is also a portable version of Open Office (and other open source software) at http://www.portableapps.com which you can install on your own USB stick.

It is Windows software, but most of it plays well with Wine too.

Equally there are a whole bunch of 'pendrives' branded as "U3" that
come with OOo, Firefox and others.
