I amazingly find that ffx running in wine under linux is a lot faster than the 
native linux one running in KDE, compiled from source for xeon.

firefox has always been slower in KDE than windows, and i'm sure i read the 
reason once, alsthough i can't remember what it was or where for the life of 
me.

openoffice is also the same - so much slower in KDE than win xp.
