The question was raised "who owns the domain", if three or four people all have the passwords etc then and if those three of four ask for a contribution to costs, I am happy to pay. (ie No hassle, no paperwork) But what happens if there is a falling out? What happens if the three "owners" asking for contributions of £10 each to cover costs of £200 and 200 members cough up £10 each? (Do we even have 200 members?) But IF this happened then that £1800 is revenue and tax is potentially payable. Who pays the tax? To paraphrase Gordon, I am intensely grateful for all those who have contributed to Linux in whatever form, using Windows now drives me crazy but I suppose it works for others. However if the LUG is going down the club route, please look at the paperwork and think what should or should not apply https://www.lloydsbank.com/business/business-accounts/community-account.html#faqs https://www.natwest.com/business/bank-accounts/community-bank-account.html https://www.co-operativebank.co.uk/business/products/bank-accounts/charity-and-community-account/ etc see https://www.comparebanks.co.uk/banking/best-charity-bank-accounts/ community banks are shown but you need to make sure to avoid the charity providers.
