Dear Paul and Julian and all, I agree with Paul that Julian's idea is a good one. Having over my long life set up various community groups/clubs, I am aware that to get a group bank account like this needs several things in place: 1) Need a legally constituted association. 2) A legally constituted association requires at least two officers as Treasurer and Chair. Other officers such as a couple of assistant Treasurers can then be added to that. 3) The association needs a (preferably simple) Constitution. 4) The Association need to have members, which might just be anyone who subscribes. 5) We need to find a bank willing to give free banking to community associations. Some do and some don't. The Constitution needs some vital components: a) Description with aims and objectives b) Definition of Officers of Committee c) Definition of modes of membership d) declaration of being in perpetuity e) description of how the association might be wound up and funds distributed.
