You say it will update but it wont!
That's what start all this.
It refuses to see a newer version and update to it.
I think there maybe dependency issues somewhere.
Or I am not sure what stops apt from see the newer version on the dmo repo.

Have you tried Aptitude rather than plain Apt - it's generally a little more .. hmm .. persistent?!

Granted, it will still tie you in knots, but rather than plain ignoring updates, it may give you some insights as to what's causing it to "fail"?

Otherwise, I assume it's identified the package versions available in all the repositories (you did apt update, after adding/removing anything from /etc/apt/sources.list* ?!) via apt-policy et al?!
