Hi All

I think I have managed to confuse everyone! All I want is the case rather than the actual server. I want to fit my desktop into the case along with a Raspberry Pi and Network switch.

Buying a server rack to mount one PC, a RPi, a network switch and _save_ space is not going to work out the way you'd like it to I suspect...

It doesn't really make sense - rack enclosures themselves are big to _really_ big and you've got to find space to put it somewhere. A hell of a lot more space than your PC, switch and RPi will be taking up already for sure. This would only make sense if you were also then adding a lot of other gear to the rack as well - like A/V gear or PDU/UPS stuff, etc.

Check out standard Rack Units online first for an idea of what you're getting yourself into!

Presuming this is still in the pre-planning stage and you haven't actually got any hard requirements yet can I suggest having a look at something a bit more reasonable like a wall mounted smaller rack:

You can stick something like that on a sturdy wall somewhere convenient and have probably more than enough room to tuck all your equipment away in one place. If you genuinely need more space than that and room for full depth equipment then:

But this is all probably way, way overkill. Are you just looking to rearrange some of your general home computing kit and save a bit of space by any chance? Because there are much better ways to do that.

Cheers
