Anyone who has used twitter should realise that (like FB which I use a lot) is totally useless for anything other than shouting into the void.

I like the idea of diaspora - I have an account somewhere that I tried to set up but billy-no-mates! I feel it may be worth another look as it should be a way to go if they can get to the point where you can rip out your account and move it to another server.

I'm on https://joindiaspora.com/ as madtom1999@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx but that doesnt seem to work as an email!

Anyone want to play - we can see if we can get something going via diaspora and  a thread here?

It only works by going into website joindiaspora.com and seeing if there are any posts to that place.   As a trial I added you to my 'stream' so your posts should be visible to me and you as well as many other who you chose to join you.

It does not work like an email. It is essentially a 'blog site', so I only visit a few times a year. This was just to try out so I knew what it was about

If 'private groups of similar interests' were to create a 'private blog' at a suitable address, then you create a closed blog group.
