In more direct answer to your question, Adrian, I understand Brussels city to be relatively dull and dysfunctional (dunno why, that's just what I've been told). So apart from circulating with the nerds and geeks, and drinking beer .. I'm not sure what other bona-fide attractions there might be ...

Is anyone considering a trip to FOSDEM in Belgium in February - I was
planning on going this year, but due to short notice decided better to
wait 'til 2017. Advance arrangement is wise, as hotels, transport costs
go up closer to the time. Short ride on the Eurostar takes you right in,
