Re: [LUG] Open Office and files locked by other user

Thanks Daniel and Simon,

It's on my NAS, this is the fstab line after modification:

192.168.0.3:/volume1/Hera /media/HERA nfs users,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,atime,auto,rw,dev,exec,suid 0 0

Previously where it now says 'users' it said 'nouser'

I've rebooted but the error remains, as per this screenshot:

Simon, 'lsof' scrolled through several screens.. is there a switch to limit it to a specific filetype?

Kind regards,

Julian

edit your fstab.

sudo nano /etc/fstab

find the hard drive partition that contains the user files (word docs etc...)

add the word "users" so it reads similar to this

# /mnt/Storage_500 was on /dev/sdc1
UUID=cfbbbcbb-1bb4-bbbc-abbb-bbbbbbbbbb3 /mnt/Storage_500 ext4 users,noatime,defaults 0    0

save it then

mount -a

Hi All,

As you (probably) know I'm dual-booting Mint and Windows 7 at the moment, and every file created in Windows 7 - e.g. Word document or Excel spreadsheet - I open in Open Office claims the file is locked by another user and I only have choices of Read Only or opening a Copy.  Is it treating my Windows user as the owner of the documents and refusing to grant me R/W privileges, and if so how can I fix it?

Kind regards,

Julian
