I dunno… I just can’t get excited about a tablet made by Tesco’s…

Can anyone get excited about another bog standard Android tablet?

The good news is the competition is pushing the price down into the children's market, so some original moves there like child friendly app stores, more bundled games.

But whilst the reviews are positive it is yet another low end tablet. Trying to think what might differentiate the market. Maybe shipping with BT's WiFi service - which is £60 or so if not a BT broadband customer, and/or SIM for data.

Probably some other niche or specialist markets to go for. But even here the margin is minimal since you have to get under the cost of cheapest tab plus apps you bundle.

So you double the price for something that most people wont need - may want but don't need?
I'm interested in these devices because they are the power of a small desktop from 5 years ago. The hardware seems good enough at the price - Android I can live without - I've (almost) everything I need on Linux and its just another bug ridden layer on top.
Most apps could be modified to run well using gestures and plugging in a keyboard and mouse makes it work - this is not the case with Android which doesn't recognise right mouse click (let alone middle etc)
These devices could be fantastic - we should free them where we can,
