I think his "unsolved problems" are much bigger than the issues with SSL and certificate authorities which he identifies and then greatly exaggerates.

For a web of trust to scale, you need to be able to trust users. Experience with the Internet has shown that users can't be trusted. Not because they're evil, but because they're clueless. The fact that clueless people can use the Internet is a great achievement, but it's something one always has to be aware of.

PS 'clueless' is not meant as a judgement. Most people are clueless about most things and I'm not better than most people.
