More that if Rob was going to want to try changing the hardware the
whole box is rather cheaper than a Diginum TDM or AEX card

A bit odd that the problem is only showing on one line. Unless they
happen to take entirely different routes from the exchange. Even if this
isn't the case and the problem is obvious using a phone plugged into
the "test socket". It can still be a struggle getting BT to consider
swapping pairs over or checking cable joints. (Might be even more of
an issue now that BT have split into "Openreach" and "BT Retail".)

It's even possible for ADSL to work well on a line which is marginal
for voice.
