Magistrates *are* monitored. I know of one that got taken off the bench
because of unfair sentencing. She always gave male sales reps a tougher
sentence than anyone else under similar circumstances. It took the
authorities a while to figure out why; She'd been jilted by a
travelling salesman when she was younger.
