Hi Richard, The stepper motor rig will have to able to carry itself (obvious I know but surprisingly often overlooked) plus the motor controller and the power source. I n this case I would use a small-ish motorcycle battery and an good power circuit (could be banged up on vero board simply) based around a couple of 7505 voltage controllers. This is because they supply a maximum of 1 Amp power which may not be enough for the peak drain (when motor movement is initiated). A good source to start your research would be any of: Farnell, RS, or at a push Maplins. Hope this helps you, Fin Sent from my BlackBerry® -----Original Message----- From: Brown Richard <rich@xxxxxxxxxxx> Sender: list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Sun, 18 Nov 2012 20:57:05 To: <list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Reply-To: list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [LUG] PI and time lapse photography Hi Edward One of the biggest reason is no electricity. I know the pi can run on batteries so I'm hoping that I can pick up a camera that will run on batteries and can control the pi. But what about the hardware rig please. Will this run on batteries and where do I go looking please? -- Kind regards Richard Brown The Street Outreach Project CIC http://tsop.org.uk/ m: 07747 343637 On 18 Nov 2012, at 20:04, Edward Finlayson wrote: > Yes, the pi is a great controller for this sort of application, though to be > honest by the time that you've spent out on the hardware rig: stepper motors, > rails, spindles etc, it's still potentially quite an expensive solution.
