Re: [LUG] Buying laptops for GNU/Linux

Can't say I've ever had issues installing Linux on all the Laptops I've owned over the years. In the early days with no on-board Wi-Fi it was a bit hit or miss, but I just bought a PCMCIA card that I knew was supported and off I went...

Latterly my old Acer Aspire 5050 is still going strong, and I've just re-installed my Acer Aspire One with Debian Squeeze - some issues there, but nothing I couldn't solve with a bit of looking and it's working fine now.

Maybe I've always bought mid-range spec. laptops though and never went out to get anything more sophisticated?

So what's not supported these days?

Gordon
