Yeah i do this all the time,  then have a clear out, we dump stuff on a
physical desk,  looking around I have  usb sticks, pens, photo paper,
printer, stapler, hole punch orgaiser units,  cd holders,  speakers, 
and a few random items. 

the desktop is meant to be cluttered it makes you look more like you are
busy.

The same applie sto the computer desktop i have links to most used
documents,  etc,  or most used programs,  its easier to drag from the
desktop to my home folder too.

people work in different ways and the desktop should reflect this.
