I think the HP mini server offer is back on again too, so you can get a

Yep, £237 ish at eBuyer and the £100 cashback has been extended again until the end of September, seems that they keep extending it every month.

And remember both cable and ADSL are asymetric in their speed - you may
well get 8Mb in, but you're only going to get 443Kb/sec or 830Kb/sec out
on ADSL2, or up to about 1.1Mb on ADSL2+ though - maybe more on Annexe
M... No idea what the cable upload speeds are.

Now seems to be about 10% of your download speed or thereabouts as long as your area has been upgraded to the new upload speeds. Here in Torquay I'm getting about 3.8Mbit to 5Mbit upload speeds on 50Mbit cable. Although Virgin do have their traffic management which kicks in depending how much you upload in specific periods (can't remember what exactly it is off the top of my head, but I gather they throttle the speed to 25% of your upload speed, well on 50Mbit anyway).

Thats where my figure of 1-2GB per night comes from - 800Kb/sec upload
speed overnight ... (because it's unmetered with the ISP I use for me
and my clients from 8pm to 8am)

I presume it's a bit quicker if you're lucky enough to have fibre to the cabinet?
